Celtic Fiddle Lessons
If you have learnt violin in the past, or are new to the fiddle, I can teach you to play Celtic tunes in the Celtic style. Along the way you will learn to read music and to pick up tunes by ear.
My Waipu studio overlooks the Caledonian Park in Waipu and Auckland lessons are in the 100 year old Oratia Church Hall. Both provide a relaxed, pleasant environment for learning.
I have many years' experience as a registered teacher, a classical orchestral violinist and a professional Celtic musician.
All music taught is Celtic in origin (Irish, Scottish) for beginners or experienced violinists.
Phone me for details on 027 8149203

Tutira Tradfest 20-23 April 2018
Come all ye! Traddies and contemp musos alike. Traditional song has found a home at our four-day party in Tutira, Hawkes Bay There will be concerts on the woolshed stage each night (lit and amplified, shock horror), singing sessions on during the day and some blackboard concerts organised but all other happenings are free range. We will be releasing all the info in the Tutira Tradfest event, and if you send us an email at [email protected], we will keep you updated via email too. Our people come from many places across the water, so traditional music in NZ encompasses a wide variety of cultures, and varied sounds. Expect to hear songs from the English, Irish, Scottish, Maori and American traditions and many more besides, plus some good old kiwi jams. Please register for a spot by contacting us (with a name and contact for each attendee) by messaging either Vic or Toby here on FB, or emailing us at [email protected]. See the event for more info. Dogs are welcome on several conditions. See the event for more info. Tradition is the passing on of fire, not the worship of ashes. It's bonfire time!

Paeroa Highland Games and Tattoo
This year will be our biggest ever games, we are filling the whole of the domain with activities. As a result, we have had to move all of the parking apart from disabled parking out of the domain. Note there are road closures on either side of the Domain, with King Street closed off at the Arney road end. Disabled parking is accessible from the Corbett Street end of King Street. Willoughby Street will be closed apart from Pedestrian access, and allocated parks. There is plenty of parking around Paeroa and Central School opening their carparks in Wood Street. Please do not park in the main street of Paeroa during the day, the locals still need to be able to go to the shops :-) |
